In October 2025, I travelled through Tokyo, Kyoto, and Osaka, with stops in Hakone and Nara along the way. Each day of the journey, I made a watercolour painting inspired by a photo I took that day.
Even if I was not very fond of this technique, I chose watercolour for its compactness and its ability to dry within minutes, which makes it easier to travel with a backpack. At first, my reflexes were completely askew – the logic of watercolour is wholly opposed to that of oil. Needless to say, it was hard for me at the beginning. I eventually found my footing a couple of days into the trip, and now I can say I have a new (little) passion for watercolour.
